‘My Anatomy’ is a music project that combines the talents of many local friends and musicians willing to lend a hand to Willem Kingma’s lyric-driven songs of love and existential dread. Having worked in the field of visual art for the better part of his early life, Willem attempts to now explain in song his anxieties about life and death, through the guise of the 60’s pop that inspired him and partner Kelli Blackmore to create a band together.
Produced and recorded by Jasper Jolley at Big Fridge Sounds in Wallington, Victoria, Winksy’s debut album and the process of recording it helped Willem and Kelli find a more cohesive sound that expanded upon the haphazard demos recorded between 2018 and 2019. Guided by friends who are already well accustomed with the music scene, ‘My Anatomy’ is an introduction letter for a band trying to preach sincerity and talk about what makes them feel scared.
