White Void - Anti LP Vinyl Record

"The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion." - Albert Camus

Created in the gap between occult rock and the seventies, the eclectic hard rockers White Void are a fascinating group. Balancing their style between the old and the new, they combine the no-excuses hard rock of the eighties with the British New Wave movement.

Released in 2021, "Anti" provides the listener with an overall feeling of a metal epic. Full to the brim with musical contrasts and references to Camus' absurdist philosophy, it comfortably changes styles and sounds within tracks, all within the theme of disharmony in the individual's search for meaning in their universe. Grounded in the roots of the late 60s and 70s, the album explores a wide array of styles, such as the prog sound in the way they blend keyboards and guitar, the jazzy feeling in Solbakk's drumming in "Do. Not. Stop.", or the bluesy appearances in Marum's guitar playing. "Anti" gives the listener much to unpack, both lyrically and musically, and could go as far as being recognised as an essential "thinking man" album.
