For RSD Black Friday 2024, Soul Jazz Records proudly reissues Dedication by Tribe, a rare gem of 1970s funk, soul, and jazz, in a special one-off pressing on limited-edition orange vinyl. Fully remastered and featuring exact reproduction artwork, this release brings back an iconic album that has been out of print for over 45 years.

Originally released independently in 1977, Dedication blends funk, jazz, rock, Latin, and soul into a vibrant, genre-defying sound reminiscent of Mandrill, Jimmy Castor Bunch, The Blackbyrds, Pleasure, and Kool & the Gang. Tribe, formed by multi-instrumentalist Earl J. Foster and producer Big Dee Ervin in 1974, was known for their dynamic fusion of styles.

The band features Earl Foster on multiple instruments, Clyde Jardine Powell on bass, Billy Soto on guitar, Jimmie A. Clapper on sax, Benjamin Taylor and Harold Clayton on vocals, and Harold Davis on drums. While Tribe recorded three albums, Dedication stands as their definitive work—a masterful mix of spaced-out funk, soulful grooves, and jazz-laced rhythms.
