The Mars Volta is an American progressive rock band formed in 2001 by guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala after the breakup of their previous band, At the Drive-In. Known for their complex compositions, experimental sound, and high-energy performances, the band blends elements of progressive rock, psychedelic music, jazz fusion, and Latin influences.Initially disbanding in 2012, The Mars Volta reunited in 2019 Throughout their career, the band has been celebrated for pushing musical boundaries and cultivating a fiercely dedicated fanbase.
