Sergei Kravinoff, an aristocrat from Russia, grew up with a strong sense of lost Tsarist nobility, which drove him to become one of the world's most renowned hunters. His journey began in Kenya, Africa, where he discovered his extraordinary hunting skills. Initially, he relied on conventional hunting tools, but as time passed, he developed a taste for capturing large game using only his bare hands. His life took a turn when he met Calypso, a voodoo priestess, who introduced him to an herbal potion that significantly enhanced his physical abilities, giving him the strength, speed, and senses akin to a wild cat. This potion also extended his lifespan, keeping him healthy and vigorous for many years. Eventually, traditional hunting lost its thrill for Kravinoff, until his associate, the Chameleon—who later turned out to be his half-brother—proposed that he hunt Spider-Man, reigniting his sense of purpose. Despite the Chameleon's assistance, Kraven's plan failed, leading to his deportation from the U.S. He returned soon after, initially with the Chameleon, but was captured by Iron Man. Realizing he couldn't defeat Spider-Man alone, Kraven sought allies and joined forces with five other villains under Doctor Octopus's command, forming the original Sinister Six. However, his repeated failures against the web-slinger took a toll on his mental state. After finally defeating Spider-Man and believing he had restored his honor, the troubled Kraven tragically took his own life. Resurrected and cursed, he donned Spider-Man's costume and confronted his son, aiming to perish in battle against him. Laid to rest on his estate in Spider-Man's attire, he left a note for his son, expressing his pride and passing on his name and title, thus making him the second Kraven the Hunter.
