Soul Dog - Movin' On LP Vinyl Record (2024 Record Store Day Black Friday Exclusive Coloured Vinyl)
Carl Marshall's rise in popularity over the past several years is a testament to his decades of dedication to music. With over 30 years of experience, Carl's journey began in the vibrant musical streets of New Orleans, Louisiana, where he played guitar with the band Sam & the Soul Machine. The group featured legendary talents such as Aaron Neville (lead vocals), Sam Henry (keyboards), Gary Brown (sax), Richard Amos (bass), Cyril Neville (congas), and Robert Bush (drums). Beyond his work as a musician, Carl also made his mark as a radio personality at Meridian, Mississippi's Clear Channel station, Kiss 104.1.
In 1976, Carl released his first recording under the name Soul Dog on Amherst Records. The album, Movin' On, featured the proto-rap track "Soul Dog," which showcased a unique trucker’s MC-style delivery. Originally pressed in 1976, Movin' On has remained a rarity—until now. For RSD Black Friday 2024, this long-out-of-print gem is reissued on coloured vinyl, offering fans a chance to rediscover Carl's groundbreaking work.
