Hailing from Abingdon, Oxfordshire in 1985, Radiohead are an English rock band dabbling in elements of art rock, alt rock, electronica and experimental rock. After their debut single Creep had become a hit, tensions were high, as the band was somewhat overwhelmed by the success and increasing expectations. The result was The Bends, an album released in 1995.

Described as a unique mix of alt rock, brit-pop, indie rock and post-grunge, the album marked the change of Thom Yorke's songwriting from teenage angst to more cryptic poetry, commenting on social and global themes; a hint at the expanding lyrical content of their later works. The album features a cohesive set of songs built around U2-style guitars, looping riffs, keyboards and studio flourishes, all pointing towards the band's bright future. Not content on becoming another britpop or one-hit wonder band, Radiohead put significant effort into the release, unwilling to settle, and determined to continue making the music they've always made. Another step in the band's history, an absolute must for fans of the massively successful band.
