In 1993 Michael Jordan stepped away from the NBA to try his hand as baseball after the Chicago Bulls captured their third straight NBA championship.

When he transitioned to the Minor League Baseball team the Double-A Birmingham Barons, Jordan donned the number 45, the number he had worn as a high school baseball player. He carried the number 45 back to the NBA in ’95, where he played 23 games under this new number before transitioning back to his iconic number 23.
