Masaaki Fukuda - Hannya 1:1 Scale Life-Size Bust

Portraying the souls of women who have become demons due to their obsession or jealousy, the Hannya mask is used in Japanese Noh theatre to represent the demonic and danger, but also sorrow and torment depending on the way it is used. When an actor wearing a Hannya mask looks straight ahead, the mask appears frightening and angry, but when tilted slightly down, the face of the demon suddenly appears to be sorrowful as though crying.

The Hannya 1:1 Scale Life-Size Bust has been beautifully crafted by the uniquely talented designer and sculptor Masaaki Fukuda, who was born in Japan in 1969. Cast in high-quality resin with intricate detailing, this Hannya mask is a skull with the expression of Hannya, which has been passed down in Japan for centuries.

This incredibly emotional piece is limited to only 199 pieces worldwide, and comes complete with a customised acrylic display base, as well as a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist Masaaki Fukuda.
