New Me, Same Us is the sixth studio album by Swedish electronic band Little Dragon. It was released March 27, 2020.
The first album released under their new record label Ninja Tune, the group have had the opportunity to fuse their own studio work with the creativity sparked during collaborative sessions. This has forged a collection of free flowing funk, with an eloquent balance between electronica and organic sounds.
Lead vocalist Yukimi Nagano brings a natural R&B feel to the tracks, mirrored by smooth beats and moody synths. There is a sonic rawness to the album, but it still feels well considered and executed, clearly drawing on the vast talents of all collaborators.
A real respect for contribution is engrained in the development of New Me, Same Us. It feels inspired but oh so easy to listen to, as moments of chaotic piano contrast against a soulful bass. The album moves from danceable from more downtempo, neither outplaying the other and sitting perfectly together in sonic harmony.
