Known by his stage name Eminem, Marshall Bruce Mathers III is an American rapper and producer who grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Beginning his career as a member of Soul Intent in 1992, he's since sold over 220 million records worldwide as a solo artist.
Released in 2017, "Revival" is the ninth studio album from Slim Shady, featuring the lead single "Walk on Water" made in collaboration with Beyonce. The album polarised critics, who were divided over the heavy use of pop artists for guest appearances and the overall rock-influenced production, but despite this, the release debuted at number one in Australia, Canada, Finland, the UK, and the US. Notably, it was the rapper's eighth consecutive album to top the US Billboard 200, making him the first musical act to have eight entries in a row debut at its summit. It was also the lead up to Eminem's highly popular "Kamikaze", with Eminem stating "I couldn't have made this album without it", making "Revival" an important part of his catalogue and overall musical development.
