Elton John - Live in Australia with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra 2xLP Vinyl Record
Released in 1987, 'Live in Australia with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra' is the twenty-sixth official album release for Elton John.
This concert on 14th December 1986, before eleven thousand peoplem in the Sydney Entertainment Centre was the last in a series of twenty-seven performances covering all of Australia.
The tour has begun in Brisbane and had played to capacity audiences everywhere, including Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
The first half of the show featured Elton and his thirteen-piece band, and you are joining the concert after the interval, just as the eighty-eight-piece Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is heard and seen for the first time on this, the last night of the tour. The whole show was also being televised live via satellite to an estimated audience of ten million.
The intruments of the orchestra have been repositioned in the stereo spectrum during the mixing process, in order to afford them maximum clarity. There are absolutely no overdubs on this album.
This concert was the last to feature Elton's legendary stage costumes, which he had featured in his shows since the early 1970s. It was also his last show before undergoing throat surgery in January 1987. Despite being completely successful, the surgery prevented Elton from singing at all for several months and from touring for 18 months. The surgery also permanently reduced his range from tenor to baritone.
House in a stunning gatefold sleeve, this 2LP Set also comes with a full album MP3 download card.
Pressed on 180gsm Heavyweight Classic Black Vinyl.
