Octavarium is the eighth studio album by American progressive metal band Dream Theater, released on June 7, 2005. This was the band’s final album with Atlantic Records, recorded between September 2004 and February 2005. Notably, Octavarium is the last album ever recorded at The Hit Factory in New York City.
With Octavarium, Dream Theater aimed to create "a classic Dream Theater album" by drawing on their diverse stylistic influences while making the music less complex. It was also the first Dream Theater album to feature an orchestra. The album's structure is based around the concept of the musical octave, and its thematic elements center on lessons regarding various Catholic feasts.
Pressed on double 180gm vinyl LP, Octavarium is an essential addition to any progressive metal collection.
