David Bowie - Space Oddity - Tony Visconti 2019 Mix LP Vinyl Record (Limited Edition)
Considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, David Bowie was an English singer, songwriter an actor. He was known for his innovative work, reinvention, and visual presntation, with both his music and aesthetic significantly inspiring the development of other popular music. He's been awared with ten platinum album certifications, and has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
'Space Oddity' is a highly iconic album from the famed musician, originally released in 1969. It became one of Bowie's signature pieces, and was inluded in The Rock and Roll Hall of Hame. The album's title played on the title of 2001: A Space Odyssey, with the single of the same name being written about the launch into space of Major Tom, a fictional astronaut. It was released during a period of great interest into space flight, and five days after release, the Apollo 11 mission would launch.
The 'Tony Visconti 2019 Mix' features a brand new mix by original producer Tony Visconti. Visconti himself has stated that "It was so much fun to find hidden gems of musicianship with more time to mix the second time around, a guitar twiddle here, a trombone blast there, Marc Bolan’s voice in a group choir and more detail in general that we overlooked all those years ago when the label gave us a week at the most to mix this album."
The vinyl has been randomly distributed worldwide with a mixture of hand-numbered labels. Numbers 1 to 1969 feature silver coloured vinyls, numbers 1970 to 2019 feature gold vinyls, and the remainder of the release as black vinyls.
