Bon Iver - 22, A Million LP Vinyl Record

22, A Million is the third studio album by American indie folk band Bon Iver. It was released on September 30, 2016.

Several publications have listed 22, A Million as one of the best albums of 2016 and it received nominations for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Recording Package at the 2017 Grammy Awards. In 2019, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone included it in their list of best albums of the decade and Paul Bridgewater of The Line of Best Fit awarded the record full marks, writing that "22, A Million captures personal crisis and resolution better than any album this century".

The first album released by the band in 5 years, 22, A Million represents a marked shift in their traditional sound, incorporating elements of electronic music and hip-hop production and making extensive use of samples, synths, brass instruments and effects. Strange and experimental, the vocals that float through the tracks are glitchy and highly processed, displaying an etherial and otherworldly quality which is so soothing to become immersed in.

There is nothing structured about this album, with sounds emerging like rising water and fading with soft goodbyes. It feels natural and soul shaking with meditative qualities that provoke inwards reflection. This is also conduit to the lyrical contribution as the songwriting is consistently focused on questioning life and its meaning, seemingly acting as a record of how to move forward in difficult times.

A beautifully haunting release, this album sounds only like itself, uniquely standing alone in a world that needs respite from repetition.
