Whole New Mess is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Angel Olsen, released on August 28, 2020 by Jagjaguwar. Recorded by Olsen and engineer Michael Harris in a converted church, the album features tracks from her 2019 album, All Mirrors, arranged in a more intimate style.
Whole New Mess combines the dazzling ambition of All Mirrors with the force and power of Angel Olsen as a solo performer. Many of these songs are already established as among the best she has ever written, and they are presented here at their most fundamental. Recorded not as demos but as a necessary and intentional precursor to All Mirrors, Whole New Mess reinforced Olsen as an incomparable songwriter and performer.
This album release is pressed on Limited Edition Clear-Smoke Translucent Vinyl. Also included is a Digital Download Code.
