Aerosmith - The Road Starts Hear LP Vinyl Record (2021 Record Store Day Exclusive)
Boston 1971: A historic early recording of Aerosmith in their rehearsal room - just the band, crew and friends captured on Joe Perry's tape recorder. This never-before-heard performance showcases the early, raw talent of this future Hall Of Fame band, one year before signing to Columbia Records, and two years before their eponymous debut, which featured many of these songs, including their enduring anthem ”Dream On”.
When this was recorded, the band — Perry, singer Steven Tyler, guitarist Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer Joey Kramer — was barely a year old. The existence or whereabouts of the original tape was unknown for years, until a discovery was made in an old van the band once used. As to its provenance, well, that remains a bit of a mystery.
“This record is a bolt out of the blue,” says Hamilton, via email. “All of a sudden, it’s just there! When I first heard it, it was like hearing some young new band. ‘Listen to those little s---- play!’”
